Friend is playing Elden Ring for the first time

God dammit. I’m honestly kinda annoyed by the near impossibility of doing, completing, or even knowing about quests without reading 10 pages of text from a random blog.

I totally get why they don’t hand hold. I don’t want hand holding. This type of questing works great in Dark Souls because it’s linear. It doesn’t work at all in an open world like Elden ring. I love Elden ring and give it a 10/10, but I still wish you could, idk take a fucking note lol. Like why the hell can’t your character save a note after he talks to an npc? Is he illiterate? I’m not asking for a “go here talk to this person then do this”. Just a “hey you talked to X NPC, and they said THIS”

Otherwise I miss 95% of the NPCs, and I wouldn’t complete a single quest without guides. Maybe a couple simple ones but that’s it. I’ve put 100 hours into this game and haven’t seen or heard of half the things people talk about and all I do is explore lol.

Gonna have to beat the game 10 times just to do half of the side quests. That or just follow guides like a psycho. And following guides is literally the exact same thing as hand holding, but with an extra step.

There’s gotta be a middle ground is all I’m saying. I don’t want map markers and waypoints. But I could use a fucking progress tracker.

They won’t change it tho lol. And I’ll keep playing their games and loving them
