No MCU isnt killing cinema, im sure people will be like "Ugh yeah i know, its disney", but no its not really specifically disney as well. If so disney would be releasing 3 mediocre star wars movies in cinemas to blot out the space when no MCU movies are around. Or they would release far more animated movies, or indiana jones cinematic universe or some shit.

No the thing that is killing cinema is the fact the vast majority of people have so little disposeable income and work longer and longer hrs.

Like i get it, the idea that this artform you love can be restored to prime form if you get rid of that one big bad is neat. If the capeshit just dies then you can get the good kino back, but with the state of the world, yeah no.

People go see these movies because its like rewatching friends. They go to the cinema 3 times a year, and they go to see the shit thats most comfortable. Its the same as bingewatching shows you already like except theres some new lore.

This didnt kill cinema, cinema is dying for the same reason malls are.
