Gamers of reddit that lived in the 90's. What's the biggest shocker you had on your gaming journey?

I mean black/white to color was a huge step in general, which got me to actually start gaming. Back when I started playing game I could play a game for 3 minutes and have felt complete and way to excited that I caught a pigey or made it past my prior deleted save point. Since I had 0 standard I was genuinely stoked to have the option in general, games used to be wholesome with the competition extending out to 3 to 10 classmates.

The kicker that is making me want to stop playing is this retarded competitive nature where subpar shouldn't exist and learning or experiencing new games gets crushed by sbmm or by a chat system. The solo games like aco, rd2, skyrim etc make up for the shit show of online play at least.
