1) we don't know if they did ask her if she felt safe or not. Multiple cops talked to Gabby but we only have the body cam of one. 2) it probably wouldn't have made a difference. The female officer stated that she asked Gabby to reconsider the relationship, that it was toxic, and to think about if she was actually happy with him. And still, Gabby wanted to be with him. If the officers had asked her if she felt safe (which they might have) she probably would have said yes anyways. I am NOT saying they shouldn't have asked her if she felt safe, but I am saying that we can't fault the officers for the work they did just because we have the gift of hindsight now.
