This is an extremely important question with a depth that cannot be underestimated and consequences that cannot be over-stated. Let me rephrase it. Will Bitcoin (or surviving Blockchain) supersede current methods of time-keeping? Instead of navigating Time by the movement of stars, moon, sun and most especially the estimated birth of Christ. Will humanity continue to navigate Time by the movement of stars, heavenly bodies, or even the particles in atomic clocks? These are all things that are, from the perspective of a Christian, ordained by God and therefore His measure of time.
"And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years" -- Genesis 1:14
Since the beginning, humanity has used The Heavens as a primary source of time keeping. Christian end-times prophecy tells us that, The Anti-Christ will "think to change times." With Bitcoin starting with a conveniently named "Genesis Block," we have a clear challenge to the first book in The Holy Bible. If time were also measured via distances from Blockchain confirmations, i.e., points of time in reference to a block within the Blockchain and the distance from, then humanity would have indeed succeeded in adopting a new time-keeping model that was not explicitly ordained by God.
The question asked by this person was worded as if we were entering a new form of time, like some new dimension. However, a better phrasing would be if we (humanity) will soon be adopting a new method of time-keeping that is in direct confrontation with Christ or God Himself. If God has ordained stars and the motions of The Heavens to move as He wills for Humanity's purpose of time-keeping, then the Blockchain time-keeping methodology would stand against the laws ordained by Him, and could be considered a direct assault on God's method of time-keeping.
"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse" -- Romans 1:20
Every date written is "in the name of" Christ. And God provides our markers of time-keeping. So this person is asking a really important question. He is asking if society is ready to enter into a godless era of time-keeping. The answer to this question is obviously hugely important no matter your beliefs. He also proposed that Money is the faith of the atheists, and many are familiar with this passage;
"And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name." -- Revelation 13:17
One of the things I have wondered is what Revelations 15:2 refers to by a sea of glass mingled with fire. Does that analogically mean things like Google Glass, iPhones and their LCD displays? Or could it be processors (sand, glass, silicon) being the glass that is mingled with fire? Crypto-currencies should be obvious in their relation back to the Mark of the Beast. But what is the sea of glass? I find it interesting that the sea of glass is mentioned with victory over the beast.
"And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God." -- Revelation 15:2
