God’s Chosen Planet - Why creationists are praying we never find alien life.

But that doesn't mean that the leap has to be unreasonable.

What evidence or thought do you have that causes you to think it is reasonable?

To me, it is simply a fact that Christianity makes sense of the world in a deeper way than science can. I also believe that it is the religion with one of the strongest historical backings (as opposed to, say, Islam or Mormonism).

I don't agree that Christianity has more historical backings, in fact many of the dates are ambiguous and events are very much incorrect, for example there is no evidence of a major flood of the Earth. How does Christianity explain the world in a deeper way than science?

For example, science relies on a belief that the universe operates in consistent ways, and, more importantly, that it will continue to operate in ways consistent with how it has acted in the past. This is, in my eyes, impossible to explain from a purely scientific standpoint without treading dangerously close to the realm of logical fallacy.

Basic thought relies on presumption, we assume things all the time but it is not without reason. I throw an object expecting it to conform to the laws of gravity as they have in virtually every single instance prior. I can test and verify the phenomenon of gravitation attraction, we have discovered the Higgs boson which explains how it works as well. Gravity, and by that extension all natural laws, are not on an equivalent level of presumptuousness as belief in a god because they are routinely demonstrated to be the same, if they every changed we would learn of that and change the theories.

You haven't gone on the offense in any way, thanks for responding.
