This is not an anomaly. This is the beginning of a new chapter in American politics, characterized by an embattled left that knows it has lost on all legitimate fronts, and has had its legal defeat more or less permanently sealed by the recent appointment to SCOTUS, and knows that at least one or two more appointments are forthcoming. They know they're going to lose big in the midterms, because everybody with a room temperature IQ can see that Kavanaugh was their Waterloo.

This is a world-historical turning point. If this invasion is not decisively repelled, it will only be the first of many. They will recur, and will become increasingly large and frequent. Their goal will be to normalize flagrant illegal crossings of the border. If they succeed, the left will try to stage a coup d'etat by sheer demography. It could be accomplished in a matter of years.

Whatever happens, when future scholars write the history of the United States, they will identify this as a watershed moment.
