It's a great time to be an X-Men fan!

The reason everyone loves Claremont era is that it was an era. There were one off panels paid off a decade later, the exploration of characters away from being heroes, continuity moments, etc. It was a big world with history that informed the stories brung told, so the characters reactions were what you would expect when things like Rogue showing up and Ms Marvel going off on her happened.

I think thats why the Utopia era scratched that itch for a lot readers. All the books weren't necessarily intertwined, but everything that had been happening leading up to Messiah Complex was paid off and built on through Second Coming. It was an era with consistent characterization and continuity among all the books and the crossovers (well vampire related ones excluded) all built on the existing stories and characters .

Then AvX happened and any sense of long term characterzation or continuity was tossed in favor of everyone treating Cyclops like Hitler for doing much less than they'd forgiven each other for doing a hundred times over in the past. Before that could develop, we had to get the O5 in place and left to flounder, then a few GotG crossovers retconning previous cosmic stories , then a few more line wide reboots, then finally IvX continuing the tradition of _vX miniseries being character ruining and poorly plotted, which we apparently are solving with yet another relaunch where we're asked to just ignore the previous few years instead of building on them in any meaningful way

Until the announcement is that there will be no further announcements and a book will be allowed to exist for more than 18 issues with half of them not wasting time in line wide crossovers, I'll remain skeptical no matter how hard they push this months line wide relaunch.
