The thing is, all countries are moving at full speed towards renewable and environmentally friendly sources of energy (solar energy went from $70 a unit to less than 3 cents in just a few decades), but right now NO country is ready to start hurting their own economy to prepare to counter unpredictable consequences that cannot be measured, and may not even exist.

The planet has changed by millions of degrees in its history, how much of the 2 degree change in the last hundred years is just because of us? What consequence will it ACTUALLY have? How much of the economy do we need to sacrifice? Also fighting climate change is very much a privilege of first world countries. Developing countries have absolutely no leeway to be pushing to renewable energy when they can’t even feed or clothe a tenth of the people in the country.

Also Greta Thunberg can whine and scream all she wants to the US government, but China produces 30% of the world’s pollution (compared to the US’s 15%) but she won’t open her mouth to them because it won’t get her attention here, and because she doesn’t really know anything about the topic.
