Half-jokingly offered to make friend scarf and was rejected

Well, it's not actually "just a scarf" to me, considering the amount of time and care that I would be putting into it. I recognise I was in the wrong here, but it actually is quite a personal thing for someone to make you something by hand. That might not mean anything to you (and clearly not to him) but it does to me. I personally can't imagine anyone offering to make me something and telling them not to. I was just trying to do something nice and I think a lot of people would have been appreciative. Obviously not you, but I can't be the only one who thinks it's a kind gesture. Just felt a bit mean to have it immediately shot down, but you obviously disagree and to each their own.
