Happy Republic Day folks!

It's a good day as any to read up the constitution of India http://lawmin.nic.in/olwing/coi/coi-english/coi-4March2016.pdf

Our constitution states:

No person shall be compelled to pay any taxes, the proceeds of which are specifically appropriated in payment of expenses for the promotion or maintenance of any particular religion or religious denomination.

Yet, the government is investing Rs 25 crore in looking for the mythical plant sanjeevani booti, described in the Ramayana. So our taxes can go towards research based on Hindu mythology like Sanjeevni, Yoga, Go Mutra etc because Hinduism is not a religion but a way of life. Isn't that convenient? Politicians cannot use religion for election campaigning but Hinduism is exempt because it's not a religion.

It further states:

No religious instruction shall be provided in any educational institution wholly maintained out of State funds.

But Sanskrit scriptures are fair game because it's not a religion but a way of life.
