Having a contractors license at 19, I never would have thought. Off to the future

Nonsense. You don't get a breakdown on what that steak dinner at a restaurant costs and you don't get a breakdown on what that refrigerator costs and you don't get a breakdown on what NFL game tickets cost: Most of the shit in your life is not itemized but you pay that without whining.

This is the price of the service. And you're welcome to get multiple quotes. That is transparency: You know beforehand what the cost of the job is and can compare it to market rates to determine if it's fair.

What you expect is the opposite of transparency: You want only half the equation where you're missing all the business costs and you can use that to feed your delusion that everyone is stealing from you and laughing all the way to the bank.

Nobody wants to deal with your nickel-and-dime after-the-fact bullshit. That's why you don't get an itemized breakdown. The measly profit margins guys are actually earning off your job is not worth the giant pain the ass you will almost certainly be.
