Having trouble understanding why so much hate for crown crates

I dont mind them unless they do what swtor did and focus all time and money on that instead of content and the game. That game is an example of how not to mmo, but i wont go into that.

But when i see the people boycotting and crying overly about this i see them as the same people that cried when it was subscription only and they are children that aren't getting their way. The rng component isnt about corporate greed. Its about making money to keep these people paid, this company going and this game alive. Before f2p games there was never a need or even a purpose for rng based real money items.

I can understand wanting a guaranteed return for an investment but these items are also just cosmetic and have no real effect on gameplay or anything else and they appeal to a players ego and desire. Theres no one saying they have to buy anything yet they have this sense that if they spend 400 crowns on a crate they should get only the items they want from it and then stop. And as i said before, if they dont get their way then thats when the salt comes.
