Help? Tried to Return a Playstation 4

I'll try to keep this short. I bought a PS4 from a second hand website for a decent price of £200. Paid and received it, however the power plug was corroded on arrival. I automatically contacted them and apparently that happened during transit? Bullshit. Anyway, they offered to provide a replacement but I didn't opt for it as I had a spare power plug at home.

It was roughly a few days later that I felt, you know what? Fuck it. I bought the PS4 to pass time and I just felt like I wasted money on something I could've used better else ware (no offence to the gaming community, I do love gaming). So I contacted the second hand website and I told them I was requesting a refund. Seeing as I was still within the 14 day period to get a refund I thought, okay everything will be fine? Wrong.

They agreed to the returning of the product and I had packaged it exactly the same way they had when I received it. I paid for first class recorded signed delivery so that NOTHING could go wrong. The packaging itself said "FRAGILE" so I thought everything would be great.

They received the product the next day and emailed asking as to why I was returning it. Usually within that 14 day period you don't need to offer a reason I have heard but told them I no longer wanted it and simply wanted a refund.

So now I played the waiting game, until I heard no response I emailed them regarding my refund. Apparently when they received the console it had been dropped? and supposedly taken apart? None of which I had done. I kept it in the same condition I received it. They have to do tests to see if its working, so they sent it off to a third party company to get tested.

Cash Generator, may I add received the console from me on 4th June. It is now the 23rd June and it is still being tested? The store manager is horrific in replying to correspondence from me and the majority of the time I end up getting ignored from my emails.

I called the store a couple of days back regarding my refund and the store manager said it is still being tested. She said she would phone them up and find out any results then get back to me that day. However, to no amazement she didn't phone me back, which is where I had to call up again to try and find out for myself.

It is the 23rd June at the moment and the Assistant manager said the store manager is not in and to call tomorrow to find out.

So here I am writing on reddit to find out any answers that may be useful to me as I am not that great with the laws and policies etc.

I literally just wanted my refund of £200 back to go towards costs for a holiday. If all goes bad will I lose my £200? I can't seem to understand that within a day of being delivered it's broken?

The product worked flawlessly I even took an image of a game working on the console. So I can't seem to understand how it won't turn on now ( according to the second hand website)

Is there anything I can do apart from wait until I hear from them? Can I contact my bank? I paid through pay-pal is there anything I can do from there? I have a bad feeling I won't be getting my money back but I cannot lose £200.

I might come across as a bit thick, but I'm just not that great with knowing my rights etc.

Guys, if you have anything useful for me, any answers or advice. Please let me know!

Cheers, General.
