Herb Dean Defends Nunes vs. Rousey Stoppage at UFC 207

I know one facebook friend who suddenly became interested in the ufc and this was his post:

"I'm not a UFC guy at all, but isn't the point of the UFC to let people watch fights that are actually fights? I know Rousey didn't do very well, but shouldn't they have let the fight continue until someone was on the ground at least?"

And:

"She definitely sucked. Not claiming the contrary. But I think it could have gone on at least a bit longer. I doubt anyone would have shouted for the referee to be fired if it had."

To which I replied:

"Some might not have complained, but many would if she had some long term damage. You can't just let a powerhouse keep teeing off on someone's skull with no reply just because we paid 60 bucks to watch it."

His response:

"That's not my reasoning. It's that "ultimate" doesn't seem the appropriate word for fighting when the ref calls matches that way. Rousey could have easily kept going."

I never saw it before, maybe because I'm so blinded by the fighters I like and always root for them even when I might be wrong, but it seems like a lot of people came out of the woodwork and were pissed about Rousey losing. I think it's mainly because it was a loss to Nunes, the Brazilian beating the blue eyed American.

I love more people getting into the sport, but it annoys me when people talk shit but put it across like they are right, which influences their friends who also know nothing.

As for Rapaport, i think his point was more that Herb Dean saved her from a pounding rather than an early stoppage, but I could he wrong.
