Hey Reddit what's the view from your house right now?

From my bedroom window left to right...

There's the fence between my neighbor on the left & our house running along the left & a brick sound wall at the back to a major street in our town

Fence: it's pretty fucking old. I remember when I was young I would angle a board in the back corner( so I could step on it to get up the top easier & hop to the main street behind my house). We've definitely replaced the other fence on the right, this left one I can't remember...

The hot tub: we got it in 2005. I know this because when the cement was wet, my mom said I should put my full name & the year in it. So "when I was famous I could come back to it." Cause my mom is great. That signature in cement makes me think of what I wanted to be or could have been... I have many memories there...

A planter box: that exact spot was where a big 5' diameter tree used to be. My step-dad hated that tree. He had to consult the local government to get it down. They initially denied it but he kept insisting it was old & going to fall on the end of the house where his 2 adopted step children slept. They changed their minds... We buried my first 2 cats there. One of them was with me from age 2-20. I miss him every day. There's a dying tomato plant now in a white planter there.

A few small trees: we had big ones back there when I was a kid. My brother & I used to climb to the top & chuck water balloons at the street behind our house. The city here is big on planting trees for ones you cut down.

Some mostly dead lawn: we stopped watering the back lawn years ago. There was a drought announced years ago in CA, & my puppy was at his digging phase at the time. The lawn already had holes everywhere. Why water it? My puppy got over digging, we're still in a drought. Fuck it.

A yellow brick wall in the background: it separates my house from the main connection to the next town. The freeway is also an option, but to get from one downtown to the next, this is the best way. It's also a long stretch of mostly straight rural/suburban road. I used to hear races go past when I was young & someone did crash in to the wall along our property once. The street sign for the next cross street is at the far right behind the "redwood" trees.

"Redwood" trees: I've been told my whole life they are. Smallest ones i've ever seen... There's 3 very close to each other. Raccoons used to nestle up there until my dog scared them off. He tussled with one & came back with a foot in his mouth that wasn't his. We didn't have raccoons after that. Some squirrels are there now & are smart enough to stay up high. They tease him & throw shit down, I swear...

That's my back window... enough interest & I'll put a picture in.
