I work in video game production, and I got a job with a game company right out of school. It was great, and I really enjoyed it. My manager made it clear up from that they didn't;t have money to pay for overtime. so no problem, I will only work 40hrs a week. Well, we work long days so I usually hit my 40 around noon on Friday. So that's when I would leave. Some of the other staff might've been irked a little because they were all salaried and had deadlines to meet, but those were the conditions laid out for me when I started. Anyway, my contract ended and my next one was going to start in about a month or two (thats how the game industry works) but they needed some help over the interim. I told them about a classmate buddy of mine that was looking for work too. They hired him on for the month or so to help finish up some work and told him the same thing they told me about overtime. Well, he didn't stop at 40hrs. He worked about 60-70hrs a week, but only claimed 40 which is not only unfair to him, but I'm pretty sure illegal. Anyway, when month was over they offered him my contract, and he took it.
