Is it horrible of me to quit mid-year?

I totally get why you would hesitate to quit, you don’t want to let anyone down. The thing is, you have to watch out for yourself and take care of you first and do what’s best for you. Don’t let anyone guilt trip you otherwise or belittle you for the decision you make.

Teaching is the only identity you know, and quitting will feel like someone amputated a part of you. It’s gonna be soul shocking, It’s gonna be hard, and it will take time to adjust, especially during Covid, when you had your routine down, and teaching kept you motivated and going.

The bright side is that there’s nothing as liberating as quitting and leaving education behind, finding a new you, and doing what you want, when you want. It’s totally worth it.

You will miss it, but I have a feeling you won’t regret it. Everything always comes at a price, so you just need to allow yourself to invest in you.

The kids will move on after a week, parents will still be clueless. But you won’t ever get those months of your life back. Best of luck.
