How do you deal with a lack of joy in life?

There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will.

It's not what happens to you, but how you react to it that matters.

Sick and yet happy, in peril and yet happy, dying and yet happy, in exile and happy, in disgrace and happy.

powerful quotes from Epictetus.

I was finding less and less joy from life, things that used to excite and bring joy no longer did. I remember thinking about how it was years since I was really excited about something. I did some soul searching, stopped being around negative people that only wanted to get away from reality. Stopped escaping reality through various vices, and connected with myself through reading.

After reading the enchiridion by Epictetus and medications by Marcus Aurelius. I was finding that often what kept me from joy and happiness was my way of looking at things, thinking I deserved more and that things weren't fair, I was often worrying and troubled over things that I had no control over. Changing the way I looked at things which weren't in my control was like a flip of a switch in my mind it changed everything.
