In highschool about a year or two ago, i would always see this one girl whose name i never knew at a distant lunch table that caught my eye. We would exchange looks at lunch and passing each other in the hallways. Given my confidence i SOMEHOW felt as if though i had no chance of her saying yes to me hooking up with her so i didn't bother trying and i didn't really mind too much if i did or not. Suddenly one day her and the group of her friends walk up to my table during lunch confusing me as well as everyone else at the table. As silence falls around their approah as she (the one who i had been glancing over to) begins to ask "Are you MasterBaytes?" Very awkwardly i reply "Yeah..". "Well name wants your number." OK. Now this way of saying 'can i have your number' was very odd as i realized AFTERWARDS and made the question seem like this person she was referring to WAS NOT her and was some other random person i had no interest in. Here's where my confusion and lack of confidence mix. "Uhh...uhhh, sorry but no thanks i don't even know them." Not realising the damage i had caused to her and upon myself later to my realisation, she replies with the most distraught look on her face; "Oh... uh.. okay...". This is the moment when her friends say "haha! name got rejected!" and disperse with her as i think of who name could have possibly been from their lunch table. After this situation occurred i was greeted with various questions of "who was she?"/"who was she talking about?". About a few minutes later we had concluded she was actually asking me for my number and not for someone else. Given the situation, i had decided that i would ask her myself but as my confidence began to build up to its prime, a week later she actually managed to hook up with some other guy. TLDR: Girl who i liked asked for number, ended up rejecting her without knowing.
