How did talking in your sleep fuck you up?

Our nephew (9m) slept over a few weekends ago. We had a great time. He's a cool kid. Getting ready for bed he starts getting real anxious about sleeping in the guest room (I think he is scared of the dark). Finally my wife and I agree he can sleep on the floor of our room where he quickly falls asleep. We go to bed and my wife is out like a light. I finally fall asleep and dream about someone walking around our bedroom. I wake up ~2AM and the kid is standing in front of our big picture window (we don't close the curtain). It takes a second to process what I'm seeing and then I say (whisper) his name. No response. I try again, nothing, he just stands there. Finally I get up. I put my hand on his shoulder. He immediately grabs my hand and turns. His eyes seem unfocused and he says, loud enough to wake my wife, "DON'T SAVE MARIO HE NEEDS TO FALL."

I am standing there totally freaked. We had been playing Mario Maker earlier but the way he said it and the standing... My wife is sitting up now and she thinks he is sleep walking so I gently lead him over to our bed and kind of pick him up/lay him down next to her. She pulls him close and says his hearts going a mile a minute (mine too!). I head downstairs, the day has started for me as I am too spooked to sleep.

The next morning he has no memory of anything. My sister-in-law said he has never done anything like that.
