I haven’t been playing this game very long, maybe two months now but I feel like I am okay at making gill. Currently sitting around 3 million and I have only just gotten my main class to lv50.

Basically when I first started out (I am currently leveling with friends hence the slow progression) much like you I was in awe of the people who had several million gil to their name so after a while I just picked up goldsmithing just because I thought it sounded cool and it would smith me gold or in this case gil.

To help fund my levelling I just started doing research here on Reddit, YouTube and the forums to learn from other people. Doing this I learned a good place to start it reselling vendor items because to the rich players “time is money” and a lot of players including myself didn’t / don’t realise how vast the selection of items that vendors offer are. Often items crucial to levelling a craft or even the gear worn by those levelling is bought from vendors then resold for a high markup on the market boards.

While this was making decent gil I was sure there was a better way. Following this and coming from WoW and selling transmog their for my income and seeing everyone one is this game with their fancy gear and hearing about places like the glamours subreddit, I pushed to get my goldsmith to lv50 so that I could unlock glamours / glamours prisms. The reasoning for this was that based I what I had seen, a large amount of people liked to look fancy etc in their gear, therefore as long as their are people who want to look good there will always be a market / demand for glamour related items and the prices per glamour prism outweigh what I was making through gathering and selling ores from mining.

After that I just became a case of finding which grade of glamours sold and and slowly refining my sales techniques for examples certain grade sell better in stacks of one or two whereas other can sell just as quick in stacks of 5 or more. To help fill in the gaps I then started to find items that sold slowly but for a much larger sum to help balance my sales usually good items for this are things that are handed in for levequests or into the grand companies for seals.

I have also started to level several other crafts to allow me to access new markets but even at this point it time the markets such as the vendor items that got me started are nothing to look down upon as not long ago after reaching my first million gill I had spent it all shortly after and was down 100 gil and it was these markets that got me started and they helped me make the climb back up to a million in the same day. As for now I am invested into the glamour prism markets of several crafts and with the occasional big ticket items thrown in but I am always looking for new avenues to make gil though it’s more just because I want to save enough to buy a house my my friends as opposed to just earning for the sake of earning.
