How do you feel about the 'America: Continent or Country' argument?

I live in the United States of America. It is on the continent of North America. It is sometimes shortened to America. It is also called USA, and the US. If you say any of those things, people automatically know what you’re referring to. Pretending otherwise is being obnoxiously pedantic. The entire point of spoken language is to be able to verbally convey thoughts and ideas to one another. Languages evolve. Many ideas and thoughts can be expressed more than one way.

I am American, and North American.

My friends to the south and north are Canadian, and North American.

My friends much further to the southwest are Mexican, North American, and Central American.

I am not USAsian.
