How do you feel about McMansions?

Omg this is so timely. I was just talking to my dad yesterday about how much we hate McMansions. In Queens where I am from there are lots of people who buy perfectly fine older homes (which are already quite expensive--nothing is cheap in NYC anymore, unfortunately), raze them, and build these horrific monstrosities that stick out like sore thumbs (notice the normal sized home next to it).

It's truly sad to see neighborhoods like these and homes like these with beautiful yards and an air of stateliness become hideous odes to consumerism and new money like these.

In my neighborhood as well there have been many tear downs. They look even worse when McMansions come up because my neighborhood traditionally is lower income and has smaller original housing stock than the ones I showed above--so you have these adorable little ranch homes next to these giant hulking McMansions that look like mausoleums. It's... bizarre.
