I don’t want “defending Michael fucking Gove” to be the hill I die on, but that’s a cherry-picked, out of context quote.

What he said was “people in this country have had enough of experts from organisations with acronyms saying that they know what is best and getting it consistently wrong”.

Which is entirely different, with not at all the same meaning, tone, subtext, or implication. It’s completely false and willfully duplicitous for the media to cut off his sentence and spread that quote around.

There’s enough to criticise Brexit for without clearly misrepresenting what the opponent said. I am very much in favour of retiring the use of that quote because it’s a complete trick, it’s fake propaganda.
