How many times have you driven “drunk?”

100% agree. Telling people they are going to kill someone is so far removed from reality that it's not a good scare tactic. It's like saying to not go outside during a thunderstorm because you might get hit by lightning. Even saying they are going to be out $10,000 isn't something most people can fathom.

If you had told me I was going to spend almost 3 years of my life being stressed every day while my court case dragged on, would have to wear an ankle bracelet while I picked up my kids from school, would be banned from Canada, have to do constant drug tests and be afraid I accidentally consumed the wrong thing, plus the classes and just generally being treated less than human for multiple years, I think all of that would have been FAR more effective at preventing me from drinking and driving.
