how much worse is social media going to get for the psyche of its users?

idk because kids seem to use it more than ever but out of everyone i know (i'm a millenial but this spans old zoomers to old millenials) there's only 5-10 who actually post on an active basis. most people lurk IG and tiktok and use it to to get information/pass the time, but no one posts anymore- IG seems largely dead except for a very specific type of person/businesses and its rare for anyone over the age of 25 to actually post on tiktok.

i think it can seem like this mammoth coming to consume our lives but i've also seen a lot of people naturally age out of it? i don't think it will ever be gone for good but people (especially those posting abt it on the internet lol) do overestimate its importance/underestimate the amount of our lives that still exists offline.
