How do you make sure you’re not excluding the evangelical Christians?

When someone is an evangelical, their support of that church in and of itself does harm. We have freedom of religion, and if someone doesn't believe the things their church teaches, they are free to leave.

This is not just some minor theological nitpick, it is how to treat other human beings. If someone is going to a church and putting money in the plate and the preacher gives spiritual guidance on homosexuality and gender identity that is harmful to gay and trans people, and making sermons about how they are abominations, and are part of an organization that puts out official statements stating that they will actively work against the social acceptance of gay and trans people, there is no innocence to be had.
