Hugh Jackman's physique in the 7 movies he played Wolverine

I had this originally typed up as a response to a guy claiming Jackman is on steroids, but I think it works best as a top-level reply:

Yeah, nah, He's not on gear. The thing about steroid use is that it's evident when the camera stops rolling and you see them out and about.

For example, look at Sylvester Stallone at age 68. That is the effect that HGH and some test will have on you as you're pushing 70. Now look at a candid shot of Hugh Jackman. This is not the body of someone on test/prep/tren. This is a very rich movie star who has:

  1. His own personal trainer for the last 15 years
  2. His own personal dietitian and chefs to prepare all his food for him
  3. Entire vfx studios of people tailoring all the shirtless shots of him as Wolverine.

Hugh isn't really that big, a lot of what you see as these movies progress is the camerawork and lighting getting better, as well as the vfx and utilizing sneaky tricks like getting super dehydrated before a shirtless shoot (which is what bodybuilders do before competition).

In addition to this, you can find in almost any interview with the guy that since he was cast as Wolverine at the last minute for X-Men in 2000, he's been a consistent workout plan for the last 15 years. He's been slowly but steadily building muscle mass for a long, long time. Compare this with all the shit you see in every action movie where the guy "miraculously buffs up" for his role in 6 months. I know Chris Pratt is America and Reddit's sweetheart right now, but you don't go from beer gut to looking like he did in GotG in 6 months without some gear. It just ain't happening.

TL;DR Hugh Jackman is one of the only few "natty" stars out there, and him looking ripped as hell in the X-Men movies is mostly dehydration, movie magic and VFX work. IRL he's not that tall and not that buff.
