If Melo or Durant went to Memphis do you think they would win the championship?

No. And the reason why is simple.

Memphis is dangerous as a team. Much like SA. Obviously we're leagues away from SA's decade of domination, but we function in much the same way.

Throwing a top 10 player on our team moves us straight back to Rudy Gay days. Especially at the SF position. We would just throw the ball to him every time the clock got to 7 seconds and hope for an iso play. With our current squad, coach has to design plays for Marc, Zbo, or Mike. You literally never know who the play is going to.

If we have a Durant or a Melo, their ego demands the ball in big moments and precludes the team from working like it does now. Of course on paper it looks nice, but we really don't need another centerpiece. There's only so many possessions and shots to go around, and I want Mike, Zbo, and Marc getting 60ish shots among them. There isn't much more room in there.

It just wouldn't feel right. I think if we can package Clee and one of our rookies for a real shooter at the 2 or 3, then we're golden. I actually want to keep Jeff. Even though he's gone at the end of the season, his athleticism is direly needed. He's a 2 step to the rim dunk show from 3pt land.

Clee is an awesome dude and I love him (no homo, ok a lil homo, dude is pretty fly) but he doesn't have what it takes to show up on the biggest stage (was invisible vs the warriors).

Who knows? Maybe we already have enough. Mike conley comes out with a 40% 3pt season, Clee shoots 50%, Jeff shoots 38%, and Jordan Adams busts out and shoots 38%, we're golden. We got all we need down low. We got all we need at the PG. We just need wing scoring more consistently.

I think we'll get that this year.
