I'll add more links, this blue lotus flower is creeping my out not going to lie just check the sub. It's not well researched so it can do harm and we don't even know the half of it

Why would it being an MAOI make it toxic?

The majority of medications in use today don’t have proper research going into them… we literally don’t know the half of it. It’s no different with alternative treatment options, only water lilies (Blue lotus isn’t the only one) have been in use for more than 8000 years and across multiple continents.

Secondly, a lot of natural MAOIs aren’t that strong, and most are only selective for either MAO-a or MAO-b, meaning their effects are far weaker than pharmaceutical MAOIs or natural ones that are both MAO-a and MAO-b inhibitors.

If I had to guess I’d say blue lotus’s MAOI properties are weak. I’ve mixed it with psychedelics, and while it does potentiate it somewhat, it isn’t the same as when mixed with other MAOIs.
