I'm getting screwed over by my professor post-surgery, need help for advocacy. Help?

Dr. Linguistics-Prof,

I hope this e-mail is received well. I am writing to you because I feel there may have been a misunderstanding between us regarding my surgery and the work I missed because of it. When I spoke with you prior to having my surgery, I recall you saying that I shouldn't worry about the missed materials, and that I should focus on getting better. I took that to mean I would be able to make-up the missed work and that I would be able to work with you and/or Kevin to fill-in the gaps of what I didn't understand during my own study of the subject matter. I apologize if this interpretation of what I recall is incorrect, and I hope you can see from my point of view why I saw it this way.

I understand you are in favor of fairness vis-a-vis allowing equal opportunity among the students in class, and this is one of the things I like most about your teaching methodology. With this in mind, I implore you to consider that I have been dealt an unfavorable hand in regards to my health this semester, which I hope might allow that I could turn-in the assignments I missed, as well as completing the exam scheduled for tomorrow at a later date. I am completely unprepared for the exam, as I have tried to understand the material on my own, but find myself lost on how to implement it. I think my performance in class prior to my surgery lends itself to show that I have been taking this class seriously, and that not being granted the opportunity to make-up the missed work would not reflect accurately my capabilities.

I thank you for your time in reading this e-mail, and I sincerely hope you will consider my situation.

Regards, doopydoop00
