I definitely agree that the 70 notes are top notch— I get the argument that they were trying to make by saying that the notes should be more accessible, but…? As a class offered at a higher institution there is some expectation that you can either already parse through the kind of technical speak used for 70 notes or that you can pick it up fairly quickly as they review it in the first few notes/lectures, especially if you’re going to continue in the CS path. The course isn’t being offered to high school students and it isn’t even offered as “beginner friendly” really, that’s more CS 61A or CS 10’s job, both of which use more beginner friendly terminology in my opinion, so I don’t see a reason for 70 to have to make the notes longer just to explain concepts or language that is already accurate and class-appropriate (because the length they’re at now is definitely due to the succinct and accurate mathematical notation they’re currently using).
