CNN Blackmails Reddit User Due to His Meme That President Trump Tweeted

So you are telling me that posting comments and creating memes with racist, homophobic and anti-Semitic content isn't "actions"?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Actions would be going and actually discriminating against people in hiring or something else. Actions would be taking his public figure and running for office to implement his beliefs. Not mere words and images on the internet behind a anonymous handle.

I might have used the wrong word, so please inform me; what do you call an opinion-former who take extreme stances in certain areas?

A human being?

Doesn't that land under "limited purpose public figure"?

No.

The Content creator

Which was his anonymous handle.

Isn't everything blackmail then?

No...

Let me put this another way since this isn't getting through. This idea that you can't say things on the internet without having your real identiy exposed is dangerous, will really hurt lives, and is used to silence opions on all sides.

I'm not condoning this person's beliefs whatsoever, but I have to defend him or I lose that defense against myself or anyone that shares unpopular opinions. You're outside of the US, but around 9/11 and shortly afterwards there was an intense amount of nationalism around. You had people boycotting the Dixie Chicks band for being against the war the whole Freedom Fries fiasco. It wasn't popular at all to be against that war and fervor. I was (and think my fears have turned out to be correct). And I said as much in all kinds of places online. But I never would have attached that to my RL identity. I was a young adult with little to nothing at the time starting out a career at a corporation. Are you saying that if I had made some video against the war that pissed off tons of people, that it would have been simply the rightful consequences of my actions if someone somehow found my RL identity and threatened to out me unless I removed the video and recanted my beliefs? Because that's what's happening here.
