Interesting public comment at last night's council meeting; Over 1,000 Lexington 911 calls had a wait time of over 2 minutes this year, up from 5 in 2019

This is going to sound fucked up, but hear me out.

The police are not your friend, and unless you are possibly a news story that gets clicks, they are past the point of exhaustion. They can't hire anyone worth a fuck, and the ones they do, and try, get burnt out with the political BS.

It is and has been a shitty time to be a police officer for the last 5 or so years.

The people who got bullied in elementary school that couldn't join the military and decided to be police are having a rough go. The tactibros.

At the same time. The people who sincerely want to help our community get shit on at the same rate.

You couldn't pay me 150k with benefits to be a police officer. And while Lexington pays more than the surrounding countries, it's not an attractive job.

The justice system is fucked, the prison system is fucked, and the law enforcement is now fucked.

If as an institution police officers do exactly what they are supposed to do things would change. That a top down type of thing.
