Local Lexington Discord - The Nest!

Does having an LGBTQIA+ channel not actively promote that community?

Yes, because we actively promote and describe the server as created for and moderated by queer people.

my uncommon first name used (which, when combined with a local subreddit makes it easy to dox me)

We didn't pick your Discord name. We recognized the same long-winded speech from your comment, and put two and two together.

where criticism is actively dogpile does

Funny, in the original conversation, many people also mentioned not being interested in firearms but expressed that they had not opted in, so it was not an issue for them. You were the exception, instead choosing to have a public meltdown.

Because the inability to oppose and “positive vibes only” mentality actively promotes firearm usage, I left after months of positively engaging with the members of the server and expressing my issues.

Actually, you left after accusing the mod team and server as whole of "promoting the use of firearms which could lead to violence". People didn't like that, and many people asked to stop the conversation. When people decide they don't want to have a discussion about the ethics of having a channel for discussion of firearms (in general chat, no less), you don't get to continue disrupting the conversation and bothering people.

you should have no problem, then, when someone else points it out.

Again, we don't. Just like we don't promote drinking, or legal substance use, or anime, or anything else besides the inclusion of minority groups into spaces that historically are not accepting, especially in a red state. But we have separate opinions so I won't waste my time trying to convince you.

I do, however, have a problem when someone applies ridiculous claims to our userbase about supporting and being apart of a community that "supports and promotes gun use", and continues arguing when asked to stop. In fact, you brought the issue to our attention, we were discussing it, and you began your tirade in a general channel.

But if it would bother someone who hasn’t joined, they deserve to be informed, right, my dude?

Correct! They're welcome to join, see that we have a firearms channel that is actively moderated, and decide if they want to be apart of the community if that makes them uncomfortable. If they are uncomfortable, they don't have to stay in the server. And we are not beholden to changing the setup our server to fit the interests of a very small number of users.

I, however, did not leave Reddit and have no obligation to refrain from asking simple questions and stating facts on Reddit.

Correct again! And we shall continue to laugh at you.
