Introduction / Day 1 Thread

First time postings here, I've been a lurker for about 2 to 3 weeks and I was excited to find a subreddit community like these for those trying to lose weight. Always have been fat my entire life but it wasn't until last year when I reached my highest weight of over 400 that I decided to start making a real life style change and not some quick fix scheme diet.

Even though I've always been overweight I have always been really strong and athletic compared to most people(good genetics I suppose). My weight got worse over those years after high school because I was dealing with my depression and mood swings from bipolar disorder by binge eating to make myself happy. Obviously when I got the help that I needed in college I realized the root of my eating problems but it was a hard road getting to that realization. In the last 3 months I have lost over 50 pounds, 70 in the last 4 months and I feel 100% better eating healthier and cleaner now than when I did when I ate whatever I wanted. Counting calories and eating healthy has saved me a ton of money as well. I love going to the gym and working out but last month I injured my shoulder lifting weights and I can't get a x-ray to find out what is wrong until next month but that hasn't stopped me from working on my cardio on the elliptical and treadmill. I hadn't used an elliptical in 3 years and on Tuesday was my first time on it since then and boy did it kick my ass, I could only do 2 10 minute intervals on it before I felt like I had to throw up. The next day I did 20 minutes straight and the day after I did 30 minutes straight, I took the day off today to let my muscles rest since it's been awhile.

I loved that I found this place since it gives me motivation to work towards my goal of a bmi under 25%. I hope to post more in the future.
