[John Percy] #Celtic in advanced talks with Ange Postecoglou and are tonight close to appointing him as manager. Postecoglou, 55, has been working in Japan with Yokohoma F. Marinos

No. I'm acting like it's much better than Japanese or Australian football, because it is.

Big gap between Rangers, Celtic and the rest though. I haven't watched the SPL but I have watched a lot of Portuguese football and some Brazilian and there's a lot of players that move between those leagues and J-League so you get an idea of the relative levels. Top 5 in Portugal are all better than any Japanese team but I'd be surprised if the best three or four teams weren't reasonably competitive below that including F Marinos.

The worst teams would get relegated without much of a fight in Portugal though. Anyway, the point isn't the comparison between Scotland and Japan, but Celtic and Yokohama, and obviously there's far more pressure at Celtic, it's not comparable.

And it took Postecoglou a season to implement his style successfully, which I think will be one of the main problems he'll have. I do think he's a very good coach though so I hope he proves people wrong
