Jordan Hill arrested for speeding w/ VID.

to other people on the road.

I'll be honest. I didn't read the title of the comment completely to see the "w/ VID," and I didn't watch the video on twitter until now. I think it should still be clear from my comments that I hadn't done that, but I can understand why no one would have figured this out. To be clear, everything I said was based on acknowledged ignorance of the circumstances around his driving.

Regardless of a driver's skill, most American roads are not well enough maintained to be able to handle those speeds.

This is wrong. The road in the video, in particular, is perfectly flat and straight and in very good condition. Many roads in my city are very recently updated, and many roads like these haven't had their speed limits updated because of political gridlock in state legislatures. Speaking of politics, the 2010 federal stimulus package that was passed in response to the 2009 financial crises dumped somewhere between 15 and 30 billion dollars into American roads. Tons of American roads are being updated right this very second.

And all it takes is one wrong move by the driver, or someone else, and it can become vehicular manslaughter.

Useless fearmongering... I agree completely based on the video, but, generally speaking, it's possible to speed with relative safety while on roads that are less busy than this one. For me personally, I sometimes speed but always slow down to pass slower traffic at safe/legal passing speeds. I don't rely on other drivers to drive defensively like they were taught during driver training. Though, whether on a statistically safer no-speed-limit autobahn in europe or a speed-limited highway in the US....every driver should.
