Jupiter CEO Quits $68 Billion Firm to Sit at the Beach and ‘Do Nothing’

I wholeheartedly agree with you. However, there is something to be said about money not being as simple and finite as this line of logic can make it seem sometimes.

So much of the wealthy’s (and the near wealthy) net value is tied up in stocks and other similar near-intangible investments that it really can’t be dispersed on a mass scale without it causing those investments and so many other tangible assets to lose their relative value, and in the process probably breaking the system in such a manner that would lead to mass death.

That being said, they still end up having the amount of power relative to their “wealth” which is a level of bullshit and irony that I don’t know how to express into words. Which is why I wholeheartedly agree with your sentiment.

Theoretically the incoming wave of automation can allow for the breaking of the system without near the level of death and strife between the current economic/political/power system and the new one.

But it will take a lot of work as a species because at the moment it seems that, as a whole, humanity is not ready for that (both the have-monies and the don’t-have-monies).

Luckily that same wave of automation can be used to sway the hearts and minds of people in ways that even the brightest minds of our past could not have imagined. However, so far it seems that technology is not being applied to drive us in the proper direction, but in the opposite.
