KC bros & sisters: I need an alcohol rehab.

If I were a doctor and I could recommend something that works for 80% of the people or something that works for 20% of the people, I'd recommend the former.

That said, we have no idea how effective AA is, they don't keep records and provide no evidence of their efficacy outside of anecdotal reports. Current addiction research is evidence-based, meaning they have published studies. I wouldn't use 1950s medical theory for my body, why would I use it for addictions? Especially when AA offers no evidence past "take our word for it".

I'm thrilled it works for you, assuming that's the case. But no way I'd recommend it for someone looking to get clean now. There are easier, softer ways than waiting for someone to hit rock bottom.

If it doesn't work for a lot of people, why would you recommend it for anyone?
