Personal property tax is just plain ridiculous

I love the streetcar, I really do. I think it’s the future, even tho it’s also our past? We have light rail tracks that go over where old light rail tracks were, which cracks me up… my point being, funding for the street car is set up by special taxing jurisdictions by a judge. So the people paying the tax funding for the streetcar should, and sometimes do, have strong opinions. These are small biz owners, usually restaurants. The hilarity ensues when you ask someone that lives in one of the luxury condos on main; they have no idea of a special taxing district and are unaware that their developer is paying this tax on their behalf; the kicker being the developers’ tax contribution is also abated by their TIF. So the city is paying developers to build up development with abated taxes from… somewhere else? e.g. the fund that pay our schools, libraries and fire department (but not the cops, this is MO so that gets even weirder).

Y’all’s taxes get paid in the most ridiculous ways.
