If renting, check all the scams. e.g. make sure the person acting as land lord is really that. It is hard to protect yourself when renting a house, almost impossible. Cops dont care. Lat week I encountered 2 houses that were scams... contacted law enforcement types... they did not give one fuck.

It seems if it a crime is much beyond the scope of "going 28 in a 25mph zone" or "not wearing a seat belt", cops in this area can not wrap their tiny brains around the concept.
