Ketogenic diet for epilepsy-feel horrible about having to measure things.

I have a goal in mind, and I'm attempting to break an unhealthy relationship with food. I mourned my bread, my fruit, my sugar. Now I don't mind counting at all. I was missing pizza so I found an alternative that works for me. I was missing cookies so I bought some erythritol and now I can curb sweet tooth attacks.

And what really helps not having to be so precise in counting everything is to make meal plans and to eat similar stuff throughout the week. If you do meal plans and pre-prepare a lot of your food, you only have to do your calculations once, and you can just relax and eat the rest of the week.

This isn't a punishment, you chose this diet. If you're thinking about it that way, it's gonna be hard. Find keto friendly foods that you love and treat yourself with them as much as you can within your macros.

You're having black and white thinking saying you can NEVER eat out, you can NEVER have treats. You're thinking about this all wrong. I've eaten out for about 25% of my keto meals and I've done absolutely fine and I've been full and easily substituted carby ingredients for other ones. Keto is one of the easier diets to eat out on to be honest.

The first thing I did when I got on keto was to find bread and dessert substitutes that I liked so that I wouldn't feel deprived. Find a sugar substitute you like and get baking. There are SO MANY amazing keto recipes on Pinterest and on the /r/ketorecipes sub. The second I made keto peanutbutter cookies and chocolate mug cake and bagel dogs I knew I could do this and it would be ok.

Don't continue to mourn the foods you can't have anymore, it's time you start experimenting with foods that you do enjoy.
