Yeah I totally agree with you. It’s so easy to use religion as a facade and excuse to your bad deeds under the guise of ‘my religious freedom’. It just sucks because we KNOW that not all religious people are like this. Sadly, it’s easier to say that religion is good or religion is bad because it kinda compartmentalises the problem and makes it easier for us to deal with. Much harder to actually have people of different religious leanings have conversations and actually cause systemic changes to benefit all of a society without having to give up their religion. Easier said than done obvs but feel like I rather be part of the conversation and actually fix the real issues
