That's laughable at best he was average. If he was a writer in the modern day no one would even bat an eye lid at him. If anything he would be straight up mocked.

That's your word against the thousands that revered and studied him for the past few centuries. Liking his works is subjective and opinionated. But it's fact that he's been celebrated for centuries for his talent in writing.

And you know what? I don't even care if shakespeare is good or not. I don't know what beef you have with shakespeare, but that doesn't change my main point; that a competent writer knows how to use words to describe things in a way that brings about different emotions and atmosphere.
