Ladies, are any of you afraid for your financial future?

Yes. I'm middle-aged, did all the right things (college degree, career-track job for almost 20 years, income increasing every year I was employed, put money into a 401(k) etc) but lost my job. I looked for work but barely got any interviews (ageism is a thing), so now I'm self-employed, which I do like, but I'm not making enough money to put any away (I'm working on this).

I do have most of my 401 (k) in a Roth IRA, so that's something, but it's not really that much for where I live. I also have no kids.

I'm lucky in that my parents have done well for themselves and I do own a home (best decision I made when I had that job). I honestly feel like the only way I'm going to be OK when I get older is if my parents leave me something after they're gone. It sucks to essentially be counting on their deaths.
I assume I'll get the social security that I've been paying into since my first job at 15, but who knows.
