How was the British Invasion a failure? The British weren’t chased out of the country in the way that the Americans were. The British would hold onto many areas, such as Prarie du Chien in Wisconsin and large areas of eastern Maine. These were only returned once the treaty of Ghent had been signed. A treaty that benefited the British more than the Americans.

It’s a ridiculous argument to try and compare the states of the British and American economies post war. With the conclusion of the Napoleonic wars confirmed, the British economy could resume to its global dominance. The US economy barely had an infrastructure to fall back on.

That last point you made in regards to impressment has no real merit. There is clear logic behind the argument that impressment stopped once the Napoleonic wars had been achieved. Britain had no need to continue to disrupt the US’ ability to trade post war, in fact in would benefit from protecting it.

There is no evidence that the US secured the rights of its ships and sailors by military force. If they could have done so it would’ve been mentioned in the treaty. I doubt that such an important issue would’ve simply been overlooked while drafting the treaty.
