Layoffs for 140 CPS Teachers, 109 Support Staffers

We bend over and take it from CPS. What now? What has improved?

Well, your school system doesn't have to file chapter 9 bankruptcy for one thing. I don't really think you understand this.

Like, do you grasp that your two options right now are either to slash every expense while massively raising all taxes, or alternatively going bankrupt and having your schools run by a third party (which, spoiler: they are going to care about you infinitely less than CPS does)?

Every single time I see a teacher complain about something, they are completely oblivious to financial reality. You can complain about layoffs and class sizes and lack of art teachers and nurses all you want, its all literally irrelevant. There's no money for these things. How does striking fix this issue? How does it bring in revenue? It doesn't. All you're doing is complaining. And don't get me wrong --you have ample reason to complain for how we got into this mess, but we're here, and we have to deal with it. Teachers are not dealing with it.
