Legislators, Met Council look to decriminalize light rail fare evasion.

I grew up in North Minneapolis and am in the lower middle class. The city just raised the average property tax 500 and the yearly average is around 3500. My rent is increasing $50 per month. I don't even have health insurance. The lower middle class takes the brunt of this cities ridiculous policies. I went to the tax increase meeting. The first person who spoke was for it, half way through she tells us how she's a retired lawyer. Her wanting an increase that will be passed on to all renters across the city is stupid as well as how do constant property tax increases fit with the 2040 affordable housing plan. At the current rate the city will have to subsidize or have some program so people buying their first home don't have $300 a month in taxes. At the meeting the smug council even said they were doing a property tax increase because there's no regulation on that money so they can do what they want with it.

Know what's going on in your city.
